WOW! 🤩 (Pun definitely intended.) Thank you so much to everyone who joined us at Walk-or-Wheel, a Better Together Event. It was a fantastic day filled with sunshine, smiles, laughters and so much energy from our walkers, runners, wheelers, volunteers and supporters! We're grateful to see the community come together at events like these to help build a community where everyone belongs. Thank you to Kingsdale Community Centre for your hospitality, to all our Walk, Run and Wheel Stars who participated today and raised funds for EAFWR, our event and prize sponsors, our amazing volunteers, staff and to all involved in making this event possible - thank you for your support and friendship. FOUR DAYS until Walk-or-Wheel! Here are four things you'll want to bring along to Walk-or-Wheel this Saturday: 1. Comfortable shoes. 👟 No matter what distance you'll be walking, running or wheeling, make sure you are wearing comfortable footwear. 2. A reusable water bottle.💧 We encourage participants to bring their own refillable water bottle - there is a refill station on site. EAFWR will not be providing single-use water bottles at this event as we attempt to reduce our carbon footprint, step by step. 3. Sunscreen.☀️ With sunshine and warmer weather, it's important to protect yourself with sunscreen 4. This year, we have created a new award for Walk-or-Wheel. The Steven Fielding Award is named in honour of Steven Fielding who passed away last winter. The Fieldings were one of the first families served by EAFWR. Their son, Steven discovered new friendships and connections everywhere he went. Walk-or-Wheel was an event close to Steven's heart and one in which he participated with great enthusiasm.
